The crash occurred along West Chester Pike near Eagle Road, where a pickup truck was involved in multiple collisions before ultimately striking a U-Haul truck, according to Haverford Township police.

The incident prompted a major emergency response and a temporary closure of West Chester Pike as investigators worked to determine what led to the chain of crashes.

Driver Reportedly Experienced Medical Emergency

According to police, investigators believe the pickup truck driver may have been experiencing a medical emergency before the collisions occurred.

The pickup traveled approximately a mile along West Chester Pike, from the area of Darby Road toward Eagle Road. During that stretch, police said the truck sideswiped approximately seven vehicles.

The sequence of collisions continued until the pickup struck a U-Haul near the intersection of West Chester Pike and Eagle Road.

Multiple people were injured in the resulting crash, while one person was pronounced dead. Authorities had not released the identities of the person who died or all of those injured as the investigation continued.

West Chester Pike Closed During Investigation

West Chester Pike, also designated Route 3, was shut down in the affected area following the crash while police investigated and processed the scene.

Emergency crews responded as investigators worked to establish a timeline of the events leading up to the collision.

The closure caused significant disruption for motorists traveling through the Havertown area Saturday afternoon, particularly near the Eagle Road intersection.
